The car is currently the fastest RWD 4 cylinder in Australasia! It's best ET to date is 7.67 @ 178 mph! Click here for Video of 7.67 run Is currently the quickest 4 cylinder import in New Zealand and in it's third season of racing it has progressed greatly from its first outing of 9.7 ET. The car has won numerous events, with its' biggest achievements being the fastest four cylinder for three years in a row at the Four and Rotary Nationals, and winning the complete event two years in a row. The Datsun made its debut on the 3rd of January 2004 (after an 18 month build) with an inaugural run at a comp meet of 9.7 seconds @ 138mph. The car produced its first 8 second run on 6th March 2004 when 8.99 seconds @ 149mph was achieved, and closed out it's first season with a run of 8.71 seconds @ 153mph. During winter, a new engine was installed and the paint work refreshed and the car was sent across the ditch to Australia. It raced at Willowbank at the 2004 Jamboree, qualifying 4th in a field of 12 cars with a run of 8.43 seconds at a blistering 162mph. The car was then shipped back to NZ where it repeated it's previous speed achievement by starting and finishing the 2004/2005 season with an 8.23 second run @ 162mph. A new engine combination was purchased from Tactics Racing USA and the engine was converted from petrol to methanol. A slipper clutch was fitted and the chassis was stretched another 10 cms and it took several meets for the changes to bed in. However when they did, the time improvements were significant, as the 7 second zone was breached with a 7.95 second run @ 168mph at the Meremere Rotary Nationals on 29th January 2006, quickly followed by 7.89 seconds @ 170mph at Masterton on 5th February 2006 and 7.87 seconds @ 168mph at Lakeside International Dragway on 18th February 2006. Minor disaster struck on the 11th March when the Datsun came unglued from the Lakeside track surface and rolled onto it's roof, hitting the barrier wall at halftrack. Damage was incurred to the entire left-hand side of the car; however this has been repaired during the 2006 winter period and the car is being prepared for the coming season. Engine:
