Once again Team Rayglass is off to the Jamboree. This will most likely be the last outing for the Rayglass Datsun.

As soon as the Rayglass Team arrives home we have our work cut out preparing for the up coming 07/08 season.

A newly purchased Toyota Celica GT powered by Scranton Brothers Racing; 2JZ, the Rick Jones built racecar consists of a full carbon fibre body, wheeltubs etc...

The drivetrain starts with a Titanium clutch can, 7.5" triple plate slider clutch, and air shifted five speed Lenco. The Team looks forward to the future.

Watch this space!

Toy Tires Compac Attack

Big drive from Brisbane on Fri saw us at WSID on Sat for the Toyo Tires Compak Attak Battle. It was a sunny day with a cold cross wind, but 5 runs were made though none were made under full
power (aborted). This was due to our inability to glue the little car to track surface, (track temp dropped to below 16 degrees.

Rod & I would like to give a BIG thanks to Joe Signorelli & GAS Racing, also Mal & Matt & M&M Racing for their help & efforts, for storage & help in getting the Scratchless R8 Maloo Ute back on the road, to tow the racecar back to Brisbane.

Next meet Jamboree - August 07

Thanks Terry, Rod & The Team...

Top Doorslammers

This meeting was a round of Top Doorslammers, Prostock (N/A Doorslammers), and us running in Pro Turbo with the big boys.

1st pass was a 'checkout' with 7.76 @ 177mph and the 2nd qualifier had the little car run a career best of 7.67 @ 178mph. Our 3rd qualifying run was a non event when the Datsun's clutch hooked too hard / too early and steered car to the right in 1st gear. We made necesary adjustments for the 1st round of elimanations and then the rain came.

Brisbane is in the middle of a drought but the rain didnt let up so the meet was canceled. The following day was spent fitting a fresh clutch pack and drying out our gear ready for Combat Battle in Sydney in 3 weeks on May 19th.

Also a big Thank You to Peter Grant from Scratchless for his help towing the racecar here/there and beyond!

Tin Tops

Raceday started very well, 1st pass was a 'checkout' run to gather lamba & EGT data,7.82 @ 174 mph.

Good enough to give us #1 qualifier in Pro Compact. A bit of a tuneup trim for 2nd pass, Datsun left hard, then 1/2 way thru 1st gear went into violent Tyreshake, which in turn damaged gearbox internals.

This put us out for the day. Both runs had good 60ft's, gearbox is repaired & adjustments made to rid us of "the Shake" Next meeting is back in Australia,Willowbank, 28th April, @ Tin Top Titles

Champion Dragway "The Best Place To Race"

Saturday was the qualifier, with Sunday being the big day. The drag strip was prepped extra hard in readyness for Willy White in his Nitro Fuel Coupe! Due to a xmas tree malfunction our 1st round had to be rerun, this pass netting our 1st seven of the weekend, 7.85@175.64mph!

A slight adjustment to the 4-link and rezero the clutch and ready for round 2 which had us racing Robert Tynan in the WCD Subaru. Bob popped a big cherry, while Rod ran a Stunning 7.69@176.65mph.

Durring the day Glen had been lifting the boost and gave the 2 litre SR20 a good 40lb for the final, netting a 7.74@177.25mph win. The 7.69 et and the 177.25mph are the new NZDRA National Records, and Rod is the New Zealand National Sport Compact Champion!!!

Our next meeting is the Mini-Jam @ Willowbank on 31st March

Great news, after some time testing over summer we're getting closer to our target.Testing has created several inroads towards our 4-link & clutch program.

Success came at Import Battle #1,when on Jan 14th,the little car ran a 7.84second pass, (our quickest in NZ to date) 7 days latter at a Champion Dragway Comp meet, the 2nd pass netted our best yet, a stunning 7.72 sec at the same mph as Willowbank 06, (174.9 MPH) we have also achieved a great deal of consistency. Both following passes were squirely 7.87 & 7.85,( the 7.87 with a slow 1.31 60ft, we're looking forward to this weekend.

28th Jan,4 N Rota Nats @ Champion Dragway "The BEST place to race", our 7.72 second run was "The Quickest Import pass on New Zealand Soil"
